Bob Lord fundó Navona en North Hampton, New Hampshire, en 2008, con una idea clara: la música clásica contemporánea no tenía por qué ser un objeto de museo inaccesible. El sello debutó con Phoenix in Flight, del clarinetista Richard Stoltzman, marcando un camino dedicado a compositores vivos e intérpretes dispuestos a arriesgar. Navona importa porque descentralizó la edición académica, combinando tecnología digital con grabaciones de cámara y orquestales de un nivel técnico impecable. No buscan la complacencia del canon clásico, sino documentar el sonido del presente.
