Louis Levitt, contrabajista de Sybarite5, fundó Bright Shiny Things en Nueva York en 2018 con un propósito inicial: editar "Outliers", el disco de su propio quinteto de cuerdas que terminó trepando al primer puesto de Billboard. Lo que empezó como una solución de autogestión se convirtió en el refugio de una generación de intérpretes que cruza la tradición de cámara con el pulso del jazz, el folk y la vanguardia. El sello importa porque desarmó la rigidez de la música clásica contemporánea, dándole a los músicos el control total para grabar sin pedir permiso.
