En 1995, Sandy Lerner y Len Bosack, creadores del gigante tecnológico Cisco Systems, volcaron su obsesión por el procesamiento digital de señales en fundar Sono Luminus en Boyce, Virginia. El sello nació para capturar la acústica natural con la menor intervención posible de postproducción. En 2005 compraron el catálogo de Dorian Recordings, sumando tesoros de música antigua y grabaciones fundamentales como las de la soprano Julianne Baird. Importa porque demuestra que la tecnología digital más avanzada sirve, ante todo, para respetar la vibración real de la madera y el aire de la sala.
