En 1982, Ivor Tiefenbrun fundó Linn Records en Glasgow por una frustración técnica: los discos de prueba para calibrar su bandeja Sondek LP12 no tenían suficiente calidad. Empezó fabricando su propio torno de corte y terminó editando *A Walk Across the Rooftops* de The Blue Nile en 1984. Ese cruce entre ingeniería y música definió un catálogo donde la clásica y el barroco se registran con nitidez extrema. Importa porque demostró que la alta fidelidad no es un fetiche de nicho, sino la única forma de capturar la acústica real de una sala.
