Dave Douglas fundó Greenleaf en 2005 para editar *Mountain Passages*, un disco acústico dedicado a su padre. El sello nació en pleno sismo de la industria, justo cuando internet borraba los mapas de distribución tradicionales. En lugar de resistir, Douglas entendió que el jazz contemporáneo necesitaba un refugio digital directo. Por acá pasaron las apuestas eléctricas de Kneebody y el saxo de Donny McCaslin antes de que David Bowie lo reclutara para *Blackstar*. Importa porque demostró que la independencia no es un acto de nostalgia, sino una estrategia de supervivencia.
