En 2001, el director Harry Christophers fundó Coro con una idea poco común en la música clásica: que los propios intérpretes controlaran su catálogo. El sello nació para rescatar las grabaciones de su ensamble, The Sixteen, y terminó construyendo un refugio para la polifonía y el barroco. La reedición de su registro de 1990 del *Miserere* de Allegri demostró que la precisión técnica no ahoga la emoción. Coro importa porque entiende que la música sacra no es un ejercicio de museo, sino un espacio físico donde todavía podemos respirar.
