Neil Collier y Paul Crichton fundaron Priory en 1980 con una obsesión: registrar la música de iglesia británica antes de que se perdiera en el olvido. Lejos del academicismo frío, se dedicaron a grabar coros de catedrales y órganos históricos en su hábitat natural, capturando la reverberación real de las naves de piedra. Su serie monumental Great European Organs es un mapa de cientos de instrumentos únicos. Priory importa porque entendió que el espacio físico es un instrumento más; sus discos no son solo archivo, son capturas de aire, piedra y viento.
