Cuando EMI perdió su distribuidora en Estados Unidos en 1953, el matrimonio de Dorle y Dario Soria fundó Angel Records en Nueva York para importar el catálogo clásico europeo. No se limitaron a prensar discos: inventaron la presentación moderna de la ópera, incluyendo libretos bilingües ilustrados que hoy son norma. Por sus surcos pasaron las lecturas definitivas de Herbert von Karajan y la Tosca de Maria Callas de ese mismo año. Angel demostró que la música clásica en el living de casa requería el mismo rigor editorial que un libro de arte.
