American swing saxophonist who most famously recorded with Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong. In 1941, he recorded with Benny Carter and played in Eddie Barefield's band. In 1942, he was in Christopher Columbus (3)' band. From 1943, he played in groups led by George James (2), Billy Kyle and Sy Oliver. He was drafted in 1953.
