Douglas Boyd

British classical oboist and conductor, born 1959 in Glasgow, Scotland. He studied oboe with Janet Craxton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and with Maurice Bourgue in Paris. He co-founded The Chamber Orchestra Of Europe in 1981 and was its principal oboist until 2002. In 2006, he ceased performing on the oboe to focus full-time on his conducting career.
