Larry Shay

American songwriter. In 1929 he co-authored his most famous song, "When You're Smiling.". As with many other of Shay's songs, "When You're Smiling" was a collaboration with Joe Goodwin and Mark Fisher (3). Shay took up the piano as a youngster and attended the Bush Conservatory of Music in Chicago, before moving to New York to become a songwriter.
