Charles Peterson

American jazz photographer, banjoist and guitarist. Started out as a hot jazz banjoist, moved to New York City, where he played with Pee Wee Russell and Wingy Manone. He joined Rudy Vallee And His Connecticut Yankees and stayed with them during the Depression. Savings from the Rudy Vallee gig enabled Peterson to take a year off to study photography at the Clarence White School.
