Earl Hines

American jazz pianist, bandleader and composer. Performed with Louis Armstrong in the late 1920s developing his so called "trumpet style" (right-hand octaves accompanied by chords with his left). Still based in Chicago during the 1930s and 1940s, his big band introduced the singers Billy Eckstine and Sarah Vaughan and featured trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie and the saxophonist Charlie Parker.
