American jazz trombonist and vocalist from the swing-era. Matteson began his career as a professional Big Band musician after meeting Glenn Miller while touring with the Smith Balleu Band in 1931. Matteson went on the road with the Dorsey Brothers as a trombonist and as a member of the Dorsey Brothers Trio.
